S000ND WYTH W000ND (PHYSYC00L SRS V0L1)

“I work with artists for freedom of work and creation, it is important. I value the spirit of collective creation, searching for joy of free energy. This is my guideline during performances, cooperative works, or technical development,” says AltanovaPress label boss Sebastian Buczek (read more about Polish labels, including Altanova here). The message is not only the recording itself, but the medium as well. Not content with the usual black plastic, he has released his records on beeswax or chocolate.

The latest installment comes courtesy of the mysterious Polish shamanistic techno project RSS Boys. Faithful to their affinity for cryptic track and record titles, S000ND WYTH W000ND comes on one-sided 8’’ transparent lo-fi disc, made on a Polish machine for recording playable/listenable greeting-cards from the 60’s. Its cover printed on vintage paper in Lublin, this disc works with different speeds, it comes with two wholes – centre and off-centre. “The idea of the two wholes, material and other things, was proposed by Sebastian. We fitted two special versions to this sound as well at various speeds….There is a lot of strange bass,” say RSS Boys.

Like modern alchemists, the AltanovaPress embodies the spirit of the DIY, organically so.
