Far above these steep gorges, on unreachable plateaus, there are pastures of mountain’s wild life. A verdure under direct pressure of gray clouds. On those furthermost protruding green terraces, almost bathing in clouds, there are noticeable circular areas of yellow grass. Big yellow circles mark the spot of the last known appearance of mighty ZARDOZ.
Zardoz is a gigantic levitating stone-head, appearing out of nowhere, its expressions set in stone. Zardoz as a distant memory resurfacing from the repository of Belgrade musician and music activist Nikola Vitkovic’s audiovisual memories, inspired by a vague recollection of a few scenes from a movie of the same name which he saw as a child. ALONE IN HEAVEN [music] and MAGMA TRAKT [words] is a spiritual collaboration, a schizophrenic duet, an introspective journey through the darker recesses of Nikola’s consciousness. The synth-driven soundscapes of ALONE IN HEAVEN are accompanied by the hypnotic (and hypnotising) vocal delivery of MAGMA TRAKT. At 44 minutes, it is an epos that leads you as a hypnotist would, through the various layers of your mind, soothing – albeit dark.
